چکیده
Abstract Background Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs), as biological control agents, have been isolated from many regions throughout the world. Local isolates of EPNs are usually more effective for controlling indigenous insect pests they adapted to local environmental conditions and pest species. Results In present work, EPN were searched in soil under citrus guava trees, Egyptian clover at Noubaria region, Elbhaira governorate, Egypt, within two consecutive years. The positive samples ( Trifolium alexandrinum ) (TAN5) trees Psidium guajava (PGN6), while not existent citrus. Laboratory applications against cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis Boisd.), black cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon (Hufn.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), recorded. Nematodes naturally occurring trapped by full-grown larvae greater wax moth Galleria mellonella L.). Infected turned whitish beige dark reddish color, proofed that these belong genus Heterorhabditis. results revealed mortality rate ranges 24 100% with TAN5 18 96% PGN6 A. larvae. LC 50 values 1285.527 1560.747 IJs/cup, those S. 1339.099 2531.605 IJs/cup pupae, respectively. 3 rd instar sensitive than pupae. Production Heterorhabditis sp. strain was highest reproduction infective juveniles all concentrations. Conclusions belonged . collected region most both tested pests, species would serve an alternative chemical pesticides fit well integrated management program adults pupae economic which inhabit soil.

CROP PROTECTION Growth Disruption, Abnormalities and Mortality of Spodoptera littoralis (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Caused by Azadirachtin
Azadirachtin is the most effective compound of the neem tree, Azadirachta indica A. Juss, with insecticidal and growth disruption properties on several species of insects. Its effects on the development and survival of Spodoptora littoralis (Boisduval) were studied under laboratory conditions. Third-instar larvae were individually fed on artificial diet treated with azadirachtin (from 0.01 ppm ...
متن کاملCharacterization of a nucleopolyhedrovirus from the black cutworm, agrotis ipsilon (Lepidoptera: noctuidae)
The black cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon (Hufnagel) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is a serious localized pest of vegetable and field crops. We have characterized a newly discovered baculovirus, the Agrotis ipsilon multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (AgipMNPV), that was isolated from A. ipsilon in Illinois. Restriction enzyme fragment profiles of AgipMNPV DNA were distinct from those of previously described...
متن کاملMicrobial control of black cutworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in turfgrass using Agrotis ipsilon multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus.
Agrotis ipsilon multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (family Baculoviridae, genus Nucleopolyhedrovirus, AgipMNPV), a naturally occurring baculovirus, was found infecting black cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon (Hufnagel) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), on central Kentucky golf courses. Laboratory, greenhouse, and field studies investigated the potential of AgipMNPV for managing black cutworms in turfgrass. The virus...
متن کاملSpatial representation of odours in the antennal lobe of the moth Spodoptera littoralis (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
Glomeruli within the antennal lobe (AL) of moths are convergence sites for a large number of olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs). The ORNs target single glomeruli. In the male-specific cluster of glomeruli, the macroglomerular complex (MGC), the input is chemotypic in that each glomerulus of the MGC receives information about a specific component of the conspecific female sex pheromone. Little is...
متن کاملBioactivity of Carica papaya (Caricaceae) against Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).
The composition of a chloroform seed extract of C. papaya was determined by GC-MS. Nineteen compounds were identified, with oleic (45.97%), palmitic (24.1%) and stearic (8.52%) acids being the main components. The insecticidal and insectistatic activities of the extract and the three main constituents were tested. Larval duration increased by 3.4 d and 2.5 d when the extract was used at 16,000 ...
